Welcome to Gowan Metalworks


Gowan Metalworks is a creator of ethically sourced , custom artisan jewelry.

All pieces are made by hand in Portland Oregon, using predominantly traditional Etruscan Goldsmithing methods, as well as traditional Silversmithing and modern blacksmithing and copperworking methods. Gowan works primarily with gold and silver using traditional hand-tools (torches, handsaws, hammers, anvils and files), and uses modern motorized implements only for finishing work.

Each piece is unique, and most pieces are made-to-order. Gowan specializes in functional mechanisms, articulated jewelry, and applying traditional methods to modern applications. To learn more about how we work read our F. A Q..



Unlike Modern production jewelry, none of Gowan's work is ever treated with (or coated by) toxic chemicals (which is the cause of most perceived metal allergies)

Gowan Metalwork is an ethical business, and we take our sourcing as seriously as our own fabrication --No materials used which are the product of human suffering, or which pollute the environment in their manufacture:
- No metals are sourced from toxic production methods. Almost all metals used are recycled.

- No gemstones are sourced from abusive unethical cartels or conflicted regions. Most gemstones are sourced directly from the cutters.
